Packaging Material Properties

Typical properties of packaging materials

MaterialTypeDensity (g/cm3)Melting point or softening (degrees C)Where it is used

Typical published ranges for common grades. Amorphous materials show a glass transition (Tg) instead of a melting point. Grades, fillers, orientation and recycled content all shift these values, so check the supplier’s data sheet. Barrier values depend on thickness, test method and humidity, so they are not listed here. See the laminate estimator for an indicative stack.
